Hi! I’m Sanaz.
I am a UX/UI designer based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Before I discovered the UI/UX design industry, I was a freelance multimedia artist. I received my B.A. in Art Practice at the University of California, Berkeley. Most of my works aimed to create imagery of femininity in the contemporary world and confronted the social issues while focusing on the concept of hope in daily life. My works have been exhibited across the US and internationally, including at the Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive, Berkeley and Craft and Folk Art Museum, Los Angeles. I have received many awards, including the Eisner Prize for the highest achievement in Film and Media, UC Berkeley Award of Excellence in Photography, and Congressional Art Award.
My first experience with UX/UI was when I realized that I am fascinated by human interactions with my art. I was standing close to my work in the museum to observe people’s reactions and their comments toward my piece. I felt the people’s reaction was more important than my action on the piece. I enjoyed being able to find a common pattern in their reactions and recreate that impactful moment over and over in my work. Then, I decided to merge my analytical side to my creative side in UX design. With my art background skills, I’m always interested in finding people’s obstacles, creating solutions, and improving their experiences on a daily basis.
